What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a hands-on therapy that harnesses your body’s innate healing abilities. It recognizes the crucial link between your body’s structure and function, addressing factors like:

  • Injuries

  • Illness

  • Stress

  • Poor mobility

These elements can significantly impact your comfort and overall health potential, so through assessment, palpation and physical manipulation - Osteopathy can reduce discomfort and improve the combined functioning of the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues.

What are the benefits of Osteopathy?

There are many benefits to having an Osteopathy treatment, such as:

  • Improved tissue health and blood flow

  • Reduced pain and discomfort

  • Better mobility

  • Enhanced overall well-being

But Osteopathy is more than just the time you spend having treatment, our expert practitioners will inform you about your injury, share knowledge on how to speed up the healing process and provide advice on how to best prevent the injury from reoccurring.

What techniques are used in Osteopathy?

Our skilled osteopaths employ various manual techniques, tailoring each session to meet the individual needs of the patient:

  • Articulatory techniques: Precise manipulations to enhance joint mobility

  • Soft tissue therapy: Targeted massage and stretching for muscle tension relief

Let's start by answering a few key questions...

Your treatment starts with a full assessment, which includes a complete case history for our practitioner to better understand current symptoms, past medical conditions and current lifestyle habits.

Next, your practitioner will use palpation and gentle movement to understand your bodies structure and function. These examinations are the guide to an accurate diagnosis and most suitable treatment plan.

At Oak Park Clinic, your practitioner will provide key knowledge on how to reduce discomfort and prevent future injury. We are here to support you every step of the way and even after your session has ended, we are only a phone call away.

Once a diagnosis is identified, your practitioner will select the most appropriate manual therapy technique, such as soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilisation and muscle stretching.
